Digital habits
Small habits with a big impact on your physical world

Unfortunately, we couldn't pick the neighborhood, city, or country we were born into. Leaving our physical environment is not an easy option or decision for many. We have valid concerns and none of them make a change any easier:
What if we regret it?
Moving is very expensive
We don't know what to do
We are afraid of the unknown
We will miss our family, friends, and home
Most people take the easiest option and stay in the same familiar life. They figure that the odds are against them and avoid any risk of failure altogether.
What do they do instead?
They trade one reality for another. They escape from their physical life to a digital one. They spend most of their time in a highly customized digital environment created for them.
The difference between you and them is that you want a change in your life. You don't want to be stuck in the same spot. You want a fulfilling life of adventure.
You and I know it's not easy to change our physical environment, but it is possible.
The power of the internet and social media has changed countless lives and all you have to do is start using it (vs. it using you).
Changing your digital environment is a great start to changing your physical one. Put in place these small changes and you will start to see the world differently and find answers to how you can create a better physical life for yourself.
Digital relationships:
Our relationships play an important part in our lives. We are influenced by those who are closest to us and this can be a good or bad thing.
What if the ones closest to you don't understand your dreams or goals?
What if everyone around you has no idea how to achieve them?
This problem made it very difficult to get guidance and support before the power of social media. Most of your friends or mentors were limited to your immediate environment (such as college, school, or local organizations). Many people still treat it this way.
Luckily for you, it doesn't have to be that way anymore.
You can now find mentors on any social media platform. These are people from all around the World who have accomplished the goals you want. Many times they were in a similar environment as you.
Follow these mentors and listen to their tips and guidance for getting through problems you may be facing. Sometimes they are open to questions and you can DM them for your specific situation. Take their advice and apply it to your situation wherever you can. Mentors are a great way to get guidance but you can also build friendships.
Start reaching out to people online who share your interest. You can find them in online groups or in the followers section of your mentors. Don't make this any more complicated than it has to be. Introduce yourself and talk about your similar interests. After some time these interactions will grow into strong relationships.
These relationships are a great support. Your online friends are people who are in similar situations as you. They understand what you're going through because they are pursuing the same things. These people will support your growth and keep you motivated when you feel down. You will also help and support them when they get into a similar situation.
Both mentors and friendships are important. Your online friends support you and hold you accountable when pursuing your goals, while your mentors share everything they know about accomplishing your goals.
Go out and find them!
Create a positive content feed
Next time you sit down to randomly scroll through social media, take the first five minutes to search for inspirational content. Go to the search bar and look for content with keywords like:
Mindset
Inspiration
Motivational
Your feed doesn't have to be only inspirational content, either. You can add in more education to get the best experience possible.
For example, I enjoy learning about fishing, the outdoors, business, and writing. Each time I have an urge to scroll, I think about exactly what I want to watch. This puts me in control of what I choose to view vs. the platform picking for me and keeping me engaged longer than I intended.
You will be exposed to more positive and intentional content, instead of watching content that's negative and makes you feel bad.
Being intentional for the first 5 minutes each time you scroll will change your entire social media experience. The algorithm will adjust. You will see new and positive content anytime you open your favorite social media platform.
Create a digital library
You have all the World’s knowledge at the tip of your finger. You can transform and elevate your mind and life to a new and improved level. Most people don't understand this truth.
The power to learn any topic is the greatest advancement in modern times (especially if you can't leave your physical environment)
To control this power, you need to organize this knowledge. Here are a few sources to search once you picked your favorite topics and interests:
Articles
E-books
Podcasts
Online Courses
Youtube Videos
Choose 2 highly rated pieces of content from each of these sources and start reading, watching, or listening to them for 30 minutes each day. Then use a notebook or your favorite notetaking software to write down the best ideas.
Surrounding yourself with growth-focused resources leads to a life of continuous learning. You will be exposed to new ideas, that after some time, will pour out of your mind and into your physical environment.
Remember, we are all born into different physical environments that each have their pros and cons. What separates you and me from everyone else is how we react to this problem. If you're reading this article then you have access to a digital environment that can change everything for you.
You need to use it as a tool vs. mindlessly scrolling through it.
Find mentors to guide you
Look for friends to support you
Make your content feed positive
Create a digital library of resources
That's all for now and thanks for reading
